    Fernanda Ballesteros

    Fernanda Ballesteros

Fernanda Ballesteros (Hermosillo, 1991). Through writing, watercolor, and performance, and from a dreamlike perspective with mythological references, Ballesteros works with the personal and social consequences of silence, guilt, narcissism, and grief. Having studied Painting, History, Literature, Philosophy, and Journalism, research and cultural contrast are relevant to her artistic work.

Her most recent solo exhibition was held to present the book Orquídeas de petróleo, which received the Elías Nandino National Poetry Prize and was published by the Fondo de Cultura Económica. She is also the author of Agua vacía, Segunda virginidad, and Arigatou goza-y-más. As a producer, she published the documentary The Death Cleaner in The New York Times, which was nominated for an Emmy Award; Rocío and me in The New Yorker; and Nigeria's Dancer For Change in Al Jazeera. She has participated in exhibitions through writing, painting, or performance in Mexico, France, the Netherlands, Spain, and Colombia.
