Carolina Magis Weinberg
Visual and textual artist. Her work emerges from long-term investigations into the point (zero kilometer and confetti), the line (the map and the streamer), color (origin, migration, and foreignness), and accented language (in all its forms). These inquiries take shape through a variety of media, including photography, artist’s books, installation, printmaking, video, and textiles.
She earned a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) and a Master of Arts (MA) in Critical and Visual Studies from California College of the Arts (CCA) in San Francisco, United States. She received her BFA in Visual Arts from La Esmeralda in 2013. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Visual Arts at the Faculty of Arts and Design (FAD) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
Her work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Mexico, the Philippines, Germany, France, Colombia, and the United States. She was selected for the 20th Photography Biennial at Centro de la Imagen (2023) and the Young Art Biennial (2021). In 2019, she was awarded a Young Creators Fellowship from FONCA. Since 2022, she has been a professor at La Esmeralda.
