Jornalera de sueños

Museo Jumex invites you to Jornalera de sueños, a performance with Sandra Sánchez and Emilio Carrera.

During a workday, artists Emilio Carrera and Sandra Sánchez will take turns sleeping, along with invited guests, in the gallery of the exhibition Colección Jumex: Visiones difusas. Simultaneously, a scribe will record in words what the sleeping bodies communicate: gestures, deliriums, thoughts, and manifestations. The public will be able to see both the sleeping bodies and the live writing, revealing what usually remains concealed.

Emilio Carrera (Mexico City, 1990). Poet and visual artist. His work inhabits the crossroads between poetry and live arts. He has published the poetry collections La poeta hermafrodita y su genealogía de pájaros, flores y estrellas* (Niebla, 2025), Danzas vegetales (Semilla Silvestre, 2025), Preludio para un horizonte (Berenjena, 2025), and Heliotropos (Cajón de sastre, 2023). He has been a grantee of the Fundación Jumex Arte Contemporáneo (2021–2023) and of FONCA-Conahcyt (2023–2027). He currently resides in Houston, where he is pursuing a PhD in Creative Writing in Spanish and Visual Arts at the University of Houston.

Sandra Sánchez (State of Mexico, 1988). Artist, curator, writer, and editor. Her work is grounded in the practical possibilities of art, collaboration, and listening, aiming to critically disrupt what she calls the "sensitive logics of neoliberalism." She is part of El Cuarto de los Ojos Sucios, a performance space dedicated to the mediation, exhibition, and reflection on contemporary painting. She is also a member of research groups such as the publishing house Máquina Simple and Ambient para Leer. She is an editor for Onda MX magazine and a professor at the Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana and at the Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado "La Esmeralda."
