Colores Inquietos
Exhibition
-> Feb 21 – Mar 29
Rastro presents the exhibition colores Inquietos [Restless Colors] by Josue Marquez Esquivel.
I give my inner child permission to be heard, to be embraced. Many times we become the very adults who once hurt us: you look at your past with contempt, but in the end we are two sides of the same coin—we are the same person. A child should not have to carry so much on their shoulders; however, the weight fell on an innocent child whom I still point to today, without validating them, without being able to move forward.
Restless Colors is a series of three pieces made with pastel chalks and crayon backgrounds—childhood techniques that tell a story from which doubts, traumas, anxiety, and struggles emerge. But where something dies, something new is born. I once thought it was my condemnation; today I know it was my rebirth.
