Rastro was founded in 2023 and is a self-managed contemporary art gallery run by artists and curators Jorge Isaac Vargas, José Antonio González, and Alfredo Esparza Cárdenas. The gallery is located in Torreón, in the shop window of Los 3 García, a western wear store with a long-standing tradition in the Comarca Lagunera region. It presents exhibitions featuring works produced specifically for the space or adapted to the display window.
Rastro invites emerging and mid-career artists —local, national, and international— to experiment with works that consider public space and its passersby as their primary audience and interlocutors.
Through a careful curatorial accompaniment for each artist, Rastro seeks to contribute to the visibility and professional development of artistic practices through solo exhibitions that function both as curricular milestones and as spaces for experimentation, testing, and critical reflection on their own artistic processes.
