Primer reconocimiento

Línea a presents Primer reconocimiento, a solo exhibition by Fernanda Morales.

A suitcase appears. Inside, it holds what was left behind by a man's interrupted life: his boots, a metal cross, a worn leather cap, a belt without an embrace, and his lotion which, upon opening, fills the room with the deepest rain.

There are no memories to sustain the longing and sadness experienced during the waiting. In its place, a new doorway of proximity is drawn. Fernanda Morales crosses through it, explores an unspeakable feeling, and achieves a first approach to the figure who was taken from her before she existed: her father.

These objects do not reveal his fate nor give back his voice. But they resist the extinction of his passage and trigger an apparition. They bear witness to the identity of the one who wore them.

The affliction is intimate, but it expands. It is the same silence that resonates in a country where violence is shared. Yet, in these works, the crime is not shown directly; it is felt in its aftermath, in the stillness of what remained and what was never returned.

Primer reconocimiento does not arise from nostalgia, but rather from the present, where things that were waiting to be seen and named begin to exist. It is finally holding their essence in one's hands.
