Línea a is a self-managed project based in Durango, Mexico, created by Leonardo Ortega and Adriana Torres. Its work focuses on the dissemination, education, and promotion of emerging artists, as well as on building connections with different artistic scenes, artists, curators, and collectors, both in Durango and across other regions of Mexico.
For the project, it is essential to share the artists’ decision to remain in their place of origin. This act of rootedness has a positive impact on the local scene and is directly reflected in their artistic production.
Through the promotion of diverse curatorial axes, Línea A seeks to foster dialogue among the different artistic practices of the participating artists. The project is invested in a dynamic that contributes to the decentralization of ideas and highlights, and equally highlight what happening in the provinces, creating an echo of voices in which, although the themes and situations may feel familiar, distinctions and differences also emerge, inviting dialogue around contemporaneity and points of origin.
