Arte Abierto presents the workshop Componiendo sonido con luz, led by Steven McInerney.

Componiendo sonido con luz is a one-day workshop at Arte Abierto that is part of the FISURA academic program, led by Australian artist Steven McInerney. The workshop offers a hands-on exploration of the connections between light and sound through 16mm film. Using three film projectors, participants will create loops of flickering images by splicing individual frames onto an opaque black base. When these loops are projected, they activate analog synthesizers via light sensors. In this way, each projector functions as a channel of an audiovisual instrument that combines image and sound in real time. The different loop combinations generate visual and sonic patterns that form a collective composition. The activity will begin with a presentation of McInerney’s experimental work and a 16mm film screening. From mid-morning onward, the practical workshop will take place, culminating in a live presentation open to the public.
