Night tour: El dominio de las sombras

Municipal Band presents the guided tour of the exhibition El dominio de las sombras and the conversation with Andrea Romero and Aleida Pardo.

The exhibition covers the most recent production of the young artist where chiaroscuros lurk like a kind of ghosts that evoke the echoes of the past in the uncertainty of the present.

Here there are no certainties, but rather textures that, in an almost archaeological way, make up a kind of landscape that is read and interpreted layer by layer. The beautiful dances with the sinister, childhood memory demands its permanence in the contemporary body, light and shadow establish a truce where they seduce each other.

“This body of work that he now presents in Banda Municipal is not a pictorial evocation of anguish, mystery or some dramatic effect as we can immediately allude to within the historical tradition of art. What she recognizes are two things: the darkness of our times and the personal—and collective—body occupying the world, projecting contours; that is, being aware of our existence, of our memories. This realization of our path is, without a doubt, an echo of the painting that made appropriations of cinematographic language, but in the young artist these links appear in an abstract way. Her painting is a revelation of memories.”
