KAHL Editions presents the launch of the book Coliseo by Orlando Torres Canela edited by Sarah Kahloun.
3pm: Presentation of the project by Orlando Torres Canela and Ricardo Duarte
4pm-5pm: Book signing
Gazing through the lens of his camera, Orlando Torres Canela (1978, Guadalajara) discovers reflections not only of himself but also of the diverse array of bodies surrounding him. Through his photography, he challenges the conventional ideals of male beauty, delving into the realm of homoerotic desire that surfaces in encounters with bodies diverging from societal norms.
Orlando embarked on his artistic journey by studying Visual Arts for Photographic Expression at the University of Guadalajara, later earning a master’s degree in education and expression for the Arts. His exploration has led to the realization of three solo exhibitions and participation in over 10 group shows across various cities including Mexico City, Guadalajara, Saltillo, and Irapuato. Notably, Orlando’s talent was acknowledged when he became a finalist in the 2013 Contemporary Photography Contest of Mexico.
Moreover, he is slated to be part of Fotoseptiembre at Centro de la Imagen (Mexico City) in September 2024.
