Abraham Cruzvillegas & Jérôme Bel

kurimanzutto will present the performance where Abraham Cruzvillegas performs a representation of the piece Jérôme Bel. This work is an “auto-bio-choreographic-graphic” portrait of the French choreographer Jérôme Bel.

In it he tells his story, the origins of his inspiration and the key points of his work over the years. The story of this piece brings together the doubts, commitments, aspirations and failures of the author's life. For this performance, Abraham Cruzvillegas will interpret the text translated into Spanish by Gabriela Jauregui, who used linguistic twists, localisms, and voices from Mexican Spanish.

The format of the piece responds to the principle adopted by the choreographic company of Jérôme Bel, which considers the reduction of the ecological impact of each creation above all else. This is why Bel's company no longer travels by plane to present his works and this specific piece is always performed by a local person in the language of the country in which it is shown. Nothing new is created or rented for this staging, the objects are already in the place that hosts it and the projected images are documentation of previous shows by Jérôme Bel. The principle of this staging is to achieve the greatest economy of resources possible.
