Miriam Medrez

Centro Cultural Plaza Fatima exhibits Dérmica, a new piece by the artist Miriam Medrez, which is part of the ongoing cycle of exhibitions: En el filo del gozo.

Dérmica is a multimedia textile installation by the sculptress Miriam Medrez, a piece created especially for the space of Centro Cultural Plaza Fatima. On this occasion, Miriam Medrez's work, which focuses mainly on the human body, was adapted to the height and dimension of the room to become an immersive experience and a semi-monumental textile installation.

At the time of entering, people observe that it is an inverted immersion. Inverted, by placing on the foreground what constitutes the reverse side of the skin, creating a visual encounter between the gaze, the reflection and the inside. The act of placing in front the most visceral dimension of the organ provokes reactions, and this is what Miriam Medrez seeks: to bring us into the universe of sensations that we recognize as our own from an eye that observes itself tactilely. On the other hand, this almost impossible encounter between reflection and flesh leads us to a recognition of our biological body, the matter of which we are made.

We are in front of the sensation of the skin as a living organ, a device of folds, of infinite possibilities. Only a multiple body has as much skin as the suspended tubes, pieces from which a melodic voice and saxophone emerge, an almost religious presence and the manifestation of a pure emotion.
