"...let us recognize that we are not different things, the world and us, we are coal, fresh water, blood with iron and electrical impulses, and permanence on earth. We mutate into other realms and collectively reside in spores and meteorites light years in the future, investigating our habitat anew and navigating the possibilities offered by our celestial matter."
— Mariana Con
The fact that the material by which the universe is composed is the same by which the human body is formed, is the idea on which Mariana Con's work orbits. Her work focuses on the search for the hidden beauty of the natural world and on revealing the magic of its phenomena. She investigates this theme through experimentation with ceramic materials and other minerals, exploring their interactions with organic and electronic elements. As part of this exhibition, she shows, through a portal, a section of the laboratory of ceramic and electrochemical processes where she creates her works: constellations, feelings, memories, souls, tombs and flowers.
Just as it happens in science fiction literature, the artist's favorite genre, where authors create fictitious worlds, connecting dots between their novels; Mariana seeks with her pieces to create the universe in which she would like to live. At the same time, with her work she seeks to materialize the physical and emotional cycle of human life: birth, death and reintegration into the universe.
