Corn and Industry
Exhibition
-> Aug 26 2023 – Feb 24 2024
MARCO Museum presents Corn and Industry, the first institutional retrospective by the artist Damián Ortega in México and Latin America.
The exhibition displays the artwork produced along three decades, and include diverse techniques: sculpture, installation, ready-mades, photography and intervened objects.
The retrosprective presents a journey that begins with the cultivation of corn, goes through modernization and technological development, and culminates in post-industrial society and its imminate collapse.
In this exhibition, José Esparza Chong Cuy, curator, uses the pick and the corncob as metaphors to adress notions of labor, production and industrialization in relation to language, tools, and the transformation of matter and energy.
