GEM3 invites you to the exhibition Post-Visualization, a project of the artist Claudia Doring Baez in interaction with artwork by Matías Di Carlo.
Claudia Doring Baez presents her latest series, "Post-Visualization," a collection of oil paintings that draw inspiration from the legendary photography of Ansel Adams. Through this transformative series, Baez seamlessly marries Adams' monochromatic vision with her vibrant color palette, resulting in a mesmerizing visual journey.
This new series serves as a profound testament to the enduring legacy of Ansel Adams, whose coined term "visualization" reflected his meticulous approach to photography. Just as Adams waited for the perfect light, selected precise lenses, and composed his shots meticulously, Baez embarks on a creative voyage using his iconic photographs as her starting point.
What sets Baez's interpretation apart is her bold use of color and expressive brush work. While Adams' source material was rendered in striking black and white, Baez takes the essence of his images and transforms them into a vivid spectrum of hues.
Through her instinctual creative process rooted in her comprehensive knowledge of art history, Baez infuses each piece with dynamic emotional depth and energy, allowing her to uncover her own unique "visualization" long after the initial strokes are laid down.
The exhibition's title, "Post-Visualization," serves as a bridge between these two artistic philosophies. Just as Adams precisely envisioned his photographs before capturing them, Baez, using her intuition and unconscious creativity, takes his captured visions and transforms them anew. Her paintings evolve organically, with her true visualization occurring during the final stages of creation. This unique artistic process results in compositions that pay homage to Adams' work while simultaneously offering a fresh and personal interpretation.
