At the window, staring
Exhibition
-> Oct 11 2022 – Nov 24 2022
Colector presents a solo exhibition by British-Bermudian artist Charlie Godet Thomas as his debut solo show in Monterrey, Mexico. The title of the exhibition At the window, staring, conjures a cinematic image, one that we might recognise from any one of the dystopian climate-catastrophe films of recent years, of a lone figure looking blankly out at a changed, barely recognisable world. This figure is a character whose skin we all now find ourselves inhabiting, staring out at a world which is, seemingly, beyond repair, and the scale of what we see unfolding just the other side of this thin pane of glass can be paralyzing. 'At the window, staring’ explores some of the more nuanced emotional and physical responses that we experience when facing the climate change hyper-object. The works are intended as a zooming in, away from the collective and back to our more personal relationship to this unfolding network of rapid changes. Thomas’ intention is that this body of work serves as an opportunity to have our own confusion clarified in some way, according to his own.
