Bengala invites the community to register for its next analog photography workshop: Black and white film developing, taught by Alejandro de León.

This workshop will approach the film developing technique from the correct preparation of the dilutions of the chemicals needed to develop black and white film, theoretical knowledge about analog photography in general and practical tips for an optimal development of our negatives for later enlargement or digitization.

Limited spaces (only 6 places available) Includes: -All materials

Requirements: Essential to bring a black and white film in 35mm format finished (exposed).

About the instructor:

Alejandro De León (1993) is a graduate in graphic design from the Universidad Metropolitana de Monterrey. His work focuses on portrait, architecture, the use of archives, analog photography and antique photographic processes as a medium for artistic and commercial production.

In 2015 he was part of the Contemporary Photography Program (PFC'15) and later in 2016 he participated in the group exhibition with his piece "Vitrina de coleccionista" at Centro de las Artes de Nuevo León. That same year he began his project "Las Fotos Ajenas", a work on the archive whose objective is the search, preservation and reinterpretation of old photographs. In 2021 he participated with his work in the group exhibition "¿Qué Dices?" at La Curaduría, Santa Catarina, Nuevo León. In 2023 took place the exhibition entitled "Souvenir", being this his first solo exhibition in Bengala, SPGG, Nuevo Leon, curated by Camila Izaguirre and Paola Izaguirre, also that same year he participated in the group exhibition "Matices", along with photographer Daniela Covarrubias, organized by Pantera en Brera, Monterrey, Nuevo Leon.

He has taught photography at places like Lomography Monterrey, We Are Murall, Bengala, UDEM, Facultad de Artes Visuales (UANL) and at Escuela Adolfo Prieto (EAP) by CONARTE. He currently works as a photo editor and documenting architectural projects.
