Tierra

Tiro al Blanco presents the group show Tierra, curated by Omar López-Chahoud that brings together works by Cynthia Gutiérrez, Fritzia Irízar and Tania Candiani.

Tierra is a group exhibition that brings together three Mexican women artists whose conceptual practices embrace a post-modernist approach to revisiting pre-Hispanic traditions. Steeped in a material and ritualistic point of view, the exhibited works incorporate indigenous crafts, the poetics of the ephemeral, and the intrinsic and religious connections between the body and the land. Ranging from video installations to photography, drawings, paintings, performance and sculptures, these works set a scenario to reflect upon their experiences and to speak to the construction of a multiple cultural identity. All of the works in Tierra were newly produced for this exhibition.
