Espacio Cabeza presents the first individual exhibition of Maximiliano Ruelas: Nadie puede nombrar el día en que una simia alumbró a unx humanx, curated by Maya Renée Escárcega.
Maximiliano Ruelas is a visual artist who works with sculpture, textiles, and installations. His work aims to create narratives that engage in dialogues across different social contexts, especially around historical impositions, clothing and its social importance, and semiotic-material dialogues. Maximiliano takes advantage of his experience in textile and clothing processes to shape a chimerical imagination that questions the impositions of our notions of landscape and corporeality. He uses sculpture to create alternative and potential spaces, where the boundaries between what is real and imaginary are blurred. In this context, his work questions the intricate narratives that intertwine our reality's social and historical fabrics while challenging the symbiotic relationship between human and non-human practices. Ruelas graduated from Fashion and Textiles from Polimoda, in Florence, Italy. He lives and works in Guadalajara.
