Mapeo del Viento

Exhibition

-> Jan 30 2025 – Mar 15 2025

Colapso Art Project presents Mapeo del viento, an exhibition carried out in collaboration with Galería Quetzalli (Oaxaca), with Ana Hernández, Adrián Guerrero and Ricardo Pinto; during the week of the GDL Art Week and prior to their participation in ZonaMaco Ejes in Mexico City. Mapping the Wind speaks about freedom not as a property or attribute of the human being but as a fundamental relationship with existence. As that capacity to choose and decide, but not in the sense of an arbitrary choice, but as an openness and responsibility to one's own existence, assuming our finitude, our mortality. We are territory, not only as a physical space, but an environment that is shaped through experience, memory and tradition. A place that shapes in one way or another our understanding of the world and the way we relate to it. Although creating is an intimate process in its first origin, to what extent is the artist conditioned by his territory, his culture, the way of being in the world at the moment of creating? Is there really freedom in creating, or is one trapped by the place where one is creating, living? When that intimacy of creating gives way to a piece, that personal territory merges into the common territory of contemporary art, each step that the work takes melts boundaries until it reaches a common place. How much of that origin is possible to see in contemporary art today.
