Imaginarios personales

As part of the exhibition Cuentos de presagio by Chantal Peñalosa Fong, MAZ presents the workshop Imaginarios personales led by Carlos Yamil at EstaciónMAZ.

In this workshop, we will seek to foster semiotic exchange around the photographic image from the lens of personal imagination. Drawing from the work of artist Chantal Peñalosa Fong in pieces such as Botes. Juncos. Fotocopia (2023) and Carta abierta, invocaciones (2025), we will identify images that have moved us and share them through playful dynamics that allow us to visualize themes and methodologies related to contemporary photography and multidisciplinary art in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area. Register here.

Carlos Yamil is a photographer and audiovisual creator. From a personal perspective, he explores themes such as grief and the impossibility of sharing what we feel and think through images. He uses performance and absurdity to probe these notions in front of, behind, and through the camera. He holds a degree in Communication and Audiovisual Arts from ITESO and completed the Photography Production Seminar at the Centro de la Imagen (2023). He has participated in various short documentary and fiction film projects. His photobook Los objetos en el espejo están más cerca de lo que aparentan (2018–2021) was a finalist for the Latin American Publication Prize La Luminosa – FELIFA, XVIII Edition.

This workshop is carried out in collaboration with the Centro de la Imagen through the program for the states of the Bienal de Fotografía.
