atrás del ártico se esconde un paraíso
Event
-> Oct 9 2025
As part of the exhibition Behind the Arctic Lies a Paradise at the MAZ, artists Renata Petersen and Lino Vite will open the doors of their studios: spaces where their projects take shape and where, in addition, theories, legends, and forbidden knowledge inhabit—elements that give form to their artistic explorations. From distinct visual and research repertoires, they delve into subjects such as extraterrestrial life and religious or secular sects, with a critical and satirical gaze that draws from popular culture.
Renata Petersen is an artist and graduate of the Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts from the National School of Painting, Sculpture, and Printmaking “La Esmeralda” (INBA, Mexico City). Her recent exhibitions include Behind the Arctic Lies a Paradise, Museo de Arte de Zapopan, Zapopan (2025); Hammer Projects: The Secret Gospel Church of Phallic Worship, Hammer Museum, Los Angeles (2025); OTR^S MUNDXS, Museo Tamayo, Mexico City (2024); Teópolis, Pequod Co., Mexico City (2022); and Las cosas que nos inventamos: Contemporary Art from Guadalajara, Oklahoma Contemporary (2022). She has also participated in several artist residencies, including Hammer Projects (California, USA), Cuadro 22 (Chur, Switzerland), Fundación Casa Wabi (Oaxaca, Mexico), and Taller Los Guayabos (Guadalajara, Mexico).
