Francisco Ugarte

Proyecto La Esquina presents Sun Dance by Francisco Ugarte. In this exhibition, ceramics are transformed into an expanded canvas. Twelve planet-spheres float in space — eleven aligned and one set free — creating a circular landscape that invites viewers to orbit them in a visual dance. The work marks a milestone in the artist’s practice: it is the first time he has worked with ceramics, challenging sculptural scale. Circles, a recurring obsession in his work, explore the universality of form through a palette of four colors that combine into new possibilities.

Ugarte (Guadalajara, 1973) employs an abstract and minimalist language — spanning sculpture, drawing, and installation — to guide viewers, through subtle gestures, toward a deep attentiveness to their surroundings and their hidden rhythms.
