Federico Pérez Villoro is an artist and researcher, he lives and works in Mexico City. Through installations, essays, software, and videos, he explores how power is exercised through computational technologies. His recent projects address the history of the domestication of rivers and other bodies of water and the imposition of technical operability on living ecosystems. He has taught at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and California College of the Arts (CCA). In 2019 he founded Materia Abierta, a summer school on theory, art, and technology.
