Plataforma
Material celebrates its fourth edition as a key event of Art Week in Guadalajara. The fair returns to Plataforma, the dazzling art center in the heart of the Americana neighborhood, with a unique exhibition format spanning two full floors of the building. Get your tickets here.
Estación Material brings together artists, collectors, professionals, and art lovers to connect, acquire, and discover contemporary art. In addition to the art presentations, the fair offers a program of talks, live arts, children’s activities, and gastronomy.
With this fourth edition, Estación Material consolidates itself as a unique fair in the country, presenting 21 contemporary art galleries and projects. As part of this new exhibition proposal, each space will showcase a single Mexican artist—or artist residing in Mexico—who will present new work created for the edition or work that has not been previously exhibited.
Estación Material, Vol. 4 reaffirms its commitment to a high-level curatorial proposal, one that seeks to offer visitors an experience closer to that of a large exhibition than that of a traditional fair. Unique in its kind in Mexico, Estación Material continues to serve as an essential platform to discover the most relevant contemporary art in the country. The
Collé Prize by Pardon Collection, which recognizes artistic excellence in contemporary collage, will hold its first edition at Estación Material, Vol. 4. The winner will be selected by Pardon’s curatorial team from among the fair’s participants and announced on Friday, September 26 at Plataforma.
Likewise, Tan Tan Residencia—a dynamic platform that creates opportunities for artists and curators through diverse forms of cultural programming—joins Estación Material this year in creating a residency prize that will be awarded at the close of the fair.
On Sunday, September 28, Estación Material will present Mini Material, its program of activities for children and youth. Starting at 11 AM in the Auditorium, the program will feature a Beatbox Storytelling performance by Marazul Producciones, followed by a creative workshop led by artist Gabriel Rico.
