Canícula: Campamento de verano de piedras, personas e historias
Workshop
-> Aug 12 2025
The Museo de Arte de Zapopan presents Canícula: A summer camp for young art explorers — a space for experimentation and critical thinking designed for young artists, aimed at creating meaningful experiences for children through contemporary art.
The activity School of Stones, People, and Stories will take place after a guided visit to the exhibition Las piedras saben dormir by Jose Dávila, where children will explore ideas from geology — the science that studies the Earth. Using river stones, participants will create new characters to help tell a story. The stones will be painted with natural textures and simple shapes, similar to those found in Dávila’s exhibition at EstaciónMAZ. Much like his work, this workshop is an invitation to imagine what happens when we look at things through different eyes.

We recommend bringing water, a snack, and comfortable clothes that allow free movement and can get messy.
* The canícula, or dog days, is the hottest time of the year, named after the constellation Canis Major (the “Greater Dog”). In the northern hemisphere, this phenomenon occurs in July and August — during the summer. (In the southern hemisphere, it’s winter during those months — and it even snows!)
