The concept of reality is strongly linked to that of the absolute, in the etymological sense of the term: completely free, independent, not relative to anything. Real has traditionally been understood as the thing in itself, the idea, the reference system privileged by nature, the absolute perspective, the truth in the traditional sense of the adequacy of descriptions and explanations to the facts, the objective, which exists in itself and is as it is independently of the subject who knows (the observer who in each case measures), independent of time and space. If the real is absolute, the statement ‘time is relative’ says everything about the realism of time in relativity.
