Cosa Rapozo

fractal ride parade by Cosa Rapozo is a display of sculptural pieces and assemblages that reference the carousel through the use of its characteristic formal elements. In this way, I articulate a reflection in which the carousel becomes a metaphor for colonialism—where animality is staged, domesticated, and turned into spectacle. Through the fragmentation of a whole and the selection of parts, I outline a tension between the festive/naïve (the carousel as an attraction) and the violent (a hypothetical body impaled and forced to complete a cyclical ride)."
