Tequila Sunrise
Colección Zarur presents Tequila Sunrise, an exhibition by Cecilia Barreto, curated by Juvenal Urzúa.
What fictions does the economy hold that make us conceive it as another system of beliefs that governs or shapes our thinking and decision-making? Cecilia Barreto's work has the ability to equalize the art system and the economic system, placing painting against economic indicators, the image against financial speculation. In both worlds there is abstraction and belief. The graphics and their coldness communicate hope or disappointment, resounding gains or losses, successes or inequalities. Feelings that the economy unleashes and that are transformed into the loss of a patrimony, or into the madness of multiplying your assets in less time than a bartender prepares a tequila sunrise.
Tequila Sunrise by Cecilia Barreto is the result of the artist's research on the Tequila industry in Mexico, especially from Jalisco, and developed through different techniques, mainly painting.
