Carolina Montejo

Espacio Morelos presents a guided tour of the exhibition Río que corre al mar by Carolina Montejo.

Montejo’s work is rooted in the natural world, social and environmental justice, and technology. Over the past decade, she has explored various material, mental, and mediated spaces that expose oppressive systems harming our communities, the environment, and the planet’s regenerative potential.

Her creative process has expanded by acknowledging her own participation in systems such as capitalism and patriarchy, prompting a critical exploration of both her creativity and dissent. At other times, she seeks to find beauty and imagine alternative worlds as a way to repair the bond between humanity and the many forms of life. These concerns are reflected in her experimental and journalistic narratives, which move fluidly between biological, feminist, and poetic realms.

The exhibition features photographic works from the multimedia series Mission Ceres (2014–2016), along with a selection of video works and short films, including 100 Days of Peace, War, and Liberation, Water Quells Fire, Rhizomes, and (RE)Adaptation.
