Arrastre

Todomundo presents Arrastre, a collective exhibition with David Arellano, Ramiro Ávila, Jungla Brava, Alejandra Campos Taylor, Andrés David, Ganeisha, Alejandro Jiménez, Matraka, and María Rivera.

There is no consensus on the etymology behind the term drag: it has been interpreted as an acrostic for dressed as a girl; alluding to the masked balls known as grand rag, or the use of dresses that dragged on the ground. Historically limited to nightlife, drag art has expanded its creative, cultural, and media scope globally. at the same time, hate speech threatens to censor it. drag brings together drag artists with exponents of other disciplines who apply it as a strategy: embracing hyperbole, prosthetics, and camp to shake our preconceptions about the genre and reach a self in its purest state.
