Visita interactiva: ONCE
ONCE: Victoria colectiva
In the framework of the exhibition ONCE: Victoria colectiva, the Museo de Arte de Zapopan invites you to Visita interactiva: ONCE, led by Édgar Mondragón and Jorge Vargas.
ONCE: Victoria colectiva brings together historical trophies from Club Deportivo Guadalajara, activated as resonant bodies that emit a sound composition built from recordings of a soccer match at Estadio Akron. Through an interactive visit with artist Édgar Mondragón and curator Jorge Vargas Bravo, we will discover how the presence and movement of the group progressively activate the piece in its entirety.
Édgar Mondragón is an artist, writer, collaborator with robots, and observer of the animisms that inhabit digital devices. He studied Electronic Engineering at the Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Occidente (ITESO) and participated in Israel Carranza's Literary Essay Workshop. He teaches Robotics at the Centro de Artes Audiovisuales and advises creative projects at ITESO. In his collaborative work, he translates concepts and emotions into digital art, exploring digital materiality and contemporary forms of electronic animisms. Since 2008, he has participated in the production of video art, interactive and digital art, and has collaborated in the production of pieces for institutions such as the Fonoteca Nacional, the Museo de Arte de Zapopan, and Francis Alÿs's studio. He is a digital copyist for MarginaliaMS. His texts have been published in Luvina and in various electronic magazines.
Jorge Vargas Bravo is a multidisciplinary artist, producer, and cultural manager. With a background in communication and digital media, his work reflects on listening processes, indeterminacy, and language, using resources such as sound, painting, performance, installation, and photography. His transdisciplinary approach gives rise to spaces and moments to strengthen listening culture, from experimental music concerts to exhibitions and immersive experiences. He was selected to represent Guadalajara in the UNESCO Creative Cities circuit at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas in 2019. His works have been presented in independent forums, galleries, and museums such as the Museo de Arte de Zapopan (MAZ), Casa Taller José Clemente Orozco, Emilia Ortiz, Casa Basalta, Jardín Pilgrim, Central Gallery of Austin Library, among others. He has participated in national and international art and technology gatherings through the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) Campus Guadalajara, the Secretaría de Cultura de Jalisco, and the Atmospheric Music Alliance. He is founder of the transdisciplinary collective OSSMO and of the electronic music label REBOOTH, both projects focused on creating experiences interconnected by sound, technology, and art. He currently curates and programs exhibitions, listening sessions, and transdisciplinary encounters at the Jorge Vergara Museo (JOVEM), a museum of art and technology located at Estadio Akron in the city of Zapopan, Jalisco.
