Portfolio presentation: Chica Ayala and Woody Roseland
Lagos invites the public to a portfolio presentation by Chica Ayala and Woody Roseland.
Chica Ayala
Chica Ayala’s exploration of the complexities of identity takes shape through a pictorial and sculptural experience articulated through the use of resin and color. While her palette may at times appear immediately pleasing to the eye, the forms and edges that the artist “sculpts” with resin establish a profound sense of the concealed—of that which belongs to the unconscious. In doing so, she questions the surface of social form and reveals the intricate entanglements of the shadow self.
Woody Roseland
Woody Roseland is a multidisciplinary artist working across painting, photography, and film. His recent work explores the ideas of subtraction and embodiment, linking personal experiences of physical loss and displacement. His current research is focused on Mexico City, where he is developing projects that engage with language, the experience of being a foreigner, and the urban landscape.
