On the occasion of ATLAS Y EL OTRO, an exhibition by Robert Janitz, SAENGER Galería invites the public to a guided walkthrough with the artist and curator Tania Ragasol.

The process underlying Robert Janitz’s work emerges through rituals of repetition and rhythm that gradually give material form to a technicolor world of wax, oil paint, and flour. Traces of an almost culinary material density are achieved through looping brushstrokes, repeated in a meditative process until the desired consistency, glazes, textures, and colors are attained. Adding and removing, adding and removing, as though persistence itself could guarantee continuity.
It is a reminder that the journey is what gives meaning to the world we construct, and that—at times—remaining within a liminal zone may prove a more compelling (and perhaps safer) option than crossing the finish line. It becomes a vantage point from which to momentarily escape the horrors of global reality on this side of the door, while awaiting something better on the other. Or, at the very least, to imagine a place where everything is still taking shape, still finding its place. Or one in which, as in El Aleph, all times and all places occur simultaneously.
