Proyecto Píkaro presents the collective exhibition la piedra en el ojo in which the following participate: Lesly Egusquiza, Javier Orfón, Madeline Jiménez Santil, Coral Saucedo Lomelí, Fabiana Comas Risquez, Roberto Carrillo, Sebastián Terrones, María Huerta, Enero y Abril, Mariana Emiko, Antonio Carrasco, Claudia Luna, Noelle Choy, Lucía Hinojosa, Kara Rooney.

The stone in the eye exhibition explores the relationships between human systems and the environment to expand the discourse around the landscape and how it relates to humans and their diverse ideologies. Critiquing the role of landscape in the 1930s Henri Cartier-Bresson stated: “The world is falling apart and people like Adams and Weston are photographing stones.” Bresson believed that photodocumentaryism, a genre related to reality and authenticity, was the true way to understand the human condition, both social and political, as well as personal. But this belief does not take into consideration that the human does not exist in isolation but rather among multispecies and multimaterial networks. Furthermore, he does not consider that documenting reality creates closed lines where one cannot re-imagine the world that exists and what lies beyond. Through expanded perspectives, the artists and writers in this exhibition question taxonomic and natural orders to open up other contexts of inhabiting a physical world. The works not only change the perspective of the stone and its ecosystem but also of human positions and hierarchical positions, emphasizing bilateral and interdependent relationships.
