Laboratorio Arte Alameda presents Fábulas para dormir, a solo exhibition by Josué Mejía.
Fábulas para dormir is an installation that establishes a critical dialogue with the mural Los Informantes de Sahagún and the construction of the national imaginary. The work revisits the Libro de Lectura para uso de las Escuelas Nocturnas de Trabajadores (1938–1940), a series designed by the Secretaría de Educación Pública and notable for its engravings by the Liga de Escritores y Artistas Revolucionarios. These illustrations functioned not only as tools for literacy, but also as instruments of political struggle aimed at shaping working-class consciousness through collective graphic practices. By reclaiming this visual imaginary, the installation transforms the space into a reflection on hegemonic narratives and the possibility of imagining alternative futures through the remnants of popular education.
This exhibition is organized by the Secretaría de Cultura and the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura, through Laboratorio Arte Alameda.
As part of the World Cup season, from June 13 to July 19, opening hours will be extended from 9 AM to 7 PM. After July 19, regular hours of 9 AM to 5 PM will resume.
