Impresiones de luz
By Katrina Vg (Karina Vázquez Gómez)
The Museo de Arte de Zapopan invites you to a light-printing workshop inspired by Yukinori Yanagi's exhibition, El Mare Pacificum, led by Katrina Vg.
Throughout the twentieth century, the cyanotype process was widely used to reproduce technical and military blueprints. Drawing from Yukinori Yanagi's works Atomic Clouds over Ground Zero (2024) and Nagato x Operation Crossroads Baker (2024)—two cyanotypes exposed to sunlight at the exact date and time of the nuclear events they evoke—this workshop explores the medium as a link between historical memory and materiality. Through a series of sun-printing exercises using objects, silhouettes, and images selected by each participant, we will experiment with image-making processes in which light functions as a trace.
