In this Open Studio, Daniela Negrete presents the processes she developed during a three-month residency at Lagos, tracing the path that has led to a transformation in her painterly expression. Through precision, determination, and strength, Daniela cultivated a new depth and shift in her artistic practice, approaching the canvas from a place distinct from the one she had previously inhabited through her academic training.

This process has enabled a lighter, more focused, and deeply connected form of expression—one grounded in both concept and materiality—while moving away from oppressive iconographies.
