Keller’s Chromosome Company
Exhibition
-> Jul 9 – Sep 14
Opens Jul 9 | 8:00PM
Sala de Espera presents Keller’s Chromosome Company, a solo exhibition by Cristian Franco.
The project draws on the objects, traces, and stories found within the remains of a disused hospital to construct a fictional reinterpretation of the site's memory. Through a site-specific spatial intervention, the exhibition weaves together archival material, rumor, science, illness, obsolete technology, and imagined landscapes.
The installation loosely takes the story of Jimmy Keller as its point of departure, developing a speculative narrative around bodies, promises of healing, strange devices, and possible futures. Rather than reconstructing events through documentary means, Keller’s Chromosome Company proposes an installed fiction: a kind of imaginary company, abandoned laboratory, or borderland science fiction setting.
