As part of the exhibition Gu'wá i'di / Casa sangre by Yael Martínez at Patricia Conde Gallery, there will be an open dialogue between the artist and Diego Lizarazo Arias, who holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, is a full-time professor at the Metropolitan Autonomous University (Mexico), and a Level II member of the National System of Researchers.

Yael Martínez's work explores physical and emotional wounds, particularly those arising from the violence that persists in Mexico. Since 2013, Martínez has documented this situation, using photography as a rite of denunciation and a means of personal and community healing.

Martínez has received several honors for his photography, including the 2022 Wayfinder Award from the National Geographic Society, a fellowship in Mexico’s National System of Art Creators (SNCA), and the W. Eugene Smith Grant (2019). Martínez won The World Press Photo award in the North and Central America region in the Open Format category in 2022 and second prize in the World Press Photo competition in the Long-Term Projects category in 2019. Martínez joined Magnum Photos in 2020 as a nominee, became an associate member in 2022, and a full member in 2024.

Alongside the Gu'wá i'di / Casa sangre exhibition at Patricia Conde Gallery, the Museum of Modern Art (Mexico) is presenting Flor de fuego. Rí’yuu àgú, a solo exhibition by Yael Martínez.
