Casa Gilardi, known as the last work created by Mexican architect Luis Barragán, is a living space that, through the exhibitions and works presented in recent years, has been infused with a sense of contemporaneity within one of Mexico’s most important landmarks of modern architecture. The spaces of Casa Gilardi already possess a highly defined character, where light, colors, and transitions take center stage. To intervene in these spaces is both a challenge and an act of sheer courage. And if there is something that has defined the work of Claudia Peña Salinas—spanning photography, video, painting, installation, and sculpture—it is precisely that courage and intelligence that allows her, whether through mimicry or sharp contrast, to achieve a coexistence between her works and the spaces themselves.
