Unión presents the solo show Amarre by Andrea Sotelo.
Andrea Sotelo. An artist born in CDMX, she graduated in Design and decides to complement her studies with a master's degree in artistic practice and experimental film at the Audiovisual Laboratory of Creation and Contemporary Practice, Madrid. She currently works on multidisciplinary projects of experimental animation, sculpture and painting. Her work explores different aspects of feminine iconography over time, she identifies their parallels and analyzes how they converge in symbols and values in different cultures to understand why certain attributes are considered feminine.
She recently obtained the scholarship for Young Creators (FONCA) 2023-2024, in the painting category. She was also selected for the Julio Castillo National Painting Biennial in Querétaro. Last October she held the residency and individual exhibition Áspid, at the Proyecto T gallery. She has participated in several group exhibitions in Mexico and Spain and has been selected for experimental film and animation festivals in Mexico, Spain and the United States. She lives and works in Mexico City and Madrid.
