Eugenia: Creative Space presents the group exhibition This World Is Too Small for Us, which explores the miniature. The exhibition is curated by Sindicato de Miniaturistas, S.A. de C.V. Unión y Amistad, a group of collectors who defend the right of the diminutive to serve as a refuge for greatness.
Through works such as a mini-museum of scale-model paintings and sculptures by contemporary Mexican and international artists, a haunted dollhouse, an exact replica of a tianguis, diminutive dildos, a digital piece that invites visitors to play with the artist’s life, a reference table with texts that open up mini-worlds—and much more (and less)—the exhibition explores how the infinitesimal can contain the secret form of the real. It also places in tension a constant duality: the miniature makes us giants as we look at it, yet it also confronts us with our own smallness.
The opening will feature martiminis by Condesa Gin, bite-sized treats from Queremos Pastel, live music by Lago Jacuzzi and Tiny Richie, as well as fanzines to take home.
