The sound intervention Sobre nosotros crecerá la hierba pero aún es pronto will be presented at Servidor Local, a work by artists Javier Sinecio and Jonatan Tona.
Both artists construct fictions from the digitization of found cassette tapes, field recordings, distorted radio broadcasts, and theoretical texts on the philosophy of art, technology, and communication. This activity is free and open to the public and is part of the public program of the exhibition Objetos de extrañeza.
JONATAN TONA (Mexico City, 2002)
A figurative painter, Jonatan Tona studied Visual Arts at the Autonomous University of Querétaro. His work is shaped by a concern with memory and landscape—their affections and absences—approached through personal and family imaginaries. He has been part of independent collectives such as Taller de las Flores Raras, a space for non-formal education, collaborative play, action poetry, and publications for and from children. He directs Ediciones Monita, an autonomous, handmade, chance-based, itinerant, and intermittent publishing project. Occasionally, he also writes and produces sound interventions and performative readings.
JAVIER SINECIO (Querétaro, 1990)
Exploring the world with a recorder in hand, Javier Sinecio approaches noise through the creation of soundscapes in which he documents, selects, and reconstructs field recordings collected across different geographies and contexts. His mixes may include natural phenomena—such as the waves of a bay—as well as the roar of construction machinery in the city, street music, and spontaneous conversations or DJ sets. Through Variations of Environments, a project that brings together his interest in audio editing and deep listening, he has released two volumes of sonic experimentation, presented at PKB-Gallery (2024) and the Tsonami Sound Art Festival 2024.
