-> Apr 11 2026 – Apr 10 2026
On Saturday, April 11, more than 50 cultural spaces across Mexico City—including galleries, museums, artists’ studios, and independent venues—will join Slow Art Day with a special program inviting visitors to pause, look, and experience art with calm and with all the senses. Activities will include guided tours, sensory experiences, creative workshops, and participatory dynamics designed to activate a more conscious, introspective, and open relationship with artworks.
In a context dominated by immediacy—where the average visitor spends just 27 seconds in front of a work of art—Slow Art Day proposes a simple yet powerful gesture: to pause and look carefully, connect with what we observe, and foster a deeper experience that reminds us of everything art can reveal if we take the time to truly look. Founded in 2010 by Phyl Terry, this global nonprofit initiative encourages a more meaningful relationship with art. The 2026 edition marks the second citywide activation of the initiative in Mexico City, following a first edition that brought together more than 35 venues.
Visit slowartday.com.mx to see the list of participating venues and the program. Check each venue’s communication channels for more details about the activities. The logistics, format, and capacity of each activity depend on the participating venue that has joined this collaborative initiative.
Rather than trying to see everything, the invitation is to choose the activity—or activities—that resonate most with you, and to remember this approach whenever you have the opportunity.
