Salón

Salón is the inaugural exhibition of Solar Tacubaya and is conceived as a gesture of celebration. Rather than a show organized around a closed thesis, the project begins with the desire to gather a community of artists close to Omar Rodríguez-Graham and Morgana Ludlow, marking the beginning of a space long imagined.

The title refers to the historical format of the salon in art history, where works filled the walls and coexisted without strict hierarchies, making visible the presence of multiple voices. In Salón, this reference becomes a contemporary image of gathering and proximity: fifty artists from diverse backgrounds and practices share the space as a way of being together.

The exhibition can be read as a social presentation, almost ritual in nature—akin to a wedding or an inaugural celebration. It is the public manifestation of a shared decision: to affirm that this project is worth pursuing and that its foundation is deeply rooted in collaboration, friendship, and exchange.

Salón does not seek to define a final direction, but rather to open a space of trust. A room filled with works, presences, and affections, celebrating the beginning of Solar Tacubaya as a space in the making.
