SUPERFLEX

We are all in the same boat

Founded in 1993 by Jakob Fenger, Bjørnstjerne Christiansen, and Rasmus Rosengren Nielsen, the Danish collective SUPERFLEX has developed one of the most influential collaborative practices in contemporary European art. Their projects operate across art, urbanism, economics, infrastructure, and social organization, working alongside communities, specialists, and even other species to question the ways in which we coexist and inhabit the present.

Their work has taken the form of energy systems, public spaces, sculptures, and urban interventions, always grounded in a critical reflection on the social and economic structures that sustain contemporary life.

At Plataforma, they present We Are All in the Same Boat, an installation from the Cerámica Suro Collection that appropriates a familiar phrase to expose the tensions and inequalities embedded within any notion of collectivity. Through a large-scale illuminated structure, the work shifts an apparently shared promise toward a reflection on interdependence, precarity, and the conditions that keep some afloat while leaving others adrift within the same system.
