Canchas desiguales: El terreno de juego no es igual para todos

Within the framework of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and driven by Fundación Televisa, Costa Rican artist Priscilla Monge presents Canchas desiguales: El terreno de juego no es igual para todos.

Through this installation—a soccer pitch built on uneven terrain marked by slopes and dips—Monge creates a metaphor for inequality: in Mexico, more than 38% of children and adolescents live in multidimensional poverty. Not everyone starts the match from the same level; some begin on an uphill climb—not due to a lack of talent, but because of the unequal conditions surrounding them.

The piece will be shown simultaneously at three venues during the 2026 World Cup:

  • Monterrey: Macro Plaza, in front of MARCO
  • Guadalajara: MAZ
  • Mexico City: Museo Tamayo (plaza)
