El Arenal
Exhibition
-> Feb 14 – Mar 14
Torre Andrade presents El Arenal, an exhibition by Xalapa-based artist Pablo Muñoz, curated by Isis Yépez. Within this exhibition, the artist presents an installation that invites the activation of corporeal memory through ceramics, sound, and spatial arrangement. Resting on mounds of sand, the ceramic pieces articulate themselves as fragments of an affective landscape, where play, understood as a spatiotemporal element outside the logic of hyperproductivity, re-emerges as a situated and shared experience. Through this gesture, forms of knowledge learned through experience rather than discourse are reactivated.
Conceived specifically for the Agliberto Llamas Hall at Torre Andrade, the installation sets into circulation sensations anchored in a particular territory and in specific memories: textures, rhythms, and sounds that shift and resonate throughout the exhibition space. Through this gesture, Muñoz proposes a gentle insurrection against productive rhythms, giving rise to a playful and material experience that enables new connections and shared memories.
