Estudio Parque Juan Diego
Estudio Parque Juan Diego presents the exhibition Interstellar Languages by Kraeppellin, curated by Rubén Méndez.
Interstellar Languages, an exhibition by the artist Juan Ávila Aceves, who called himself Kraeppellin and later Adrrii Kraeppellin, marks the event with which Estudio Parque Juan Diego will reopen its doors on January 28. It is a celebration of the complicity between the artist and his patron, the architect José Aguilar Valencia. In 1969, a chance encounter at a painting market in the plaza of the Centro de Arte Moderno in Guadalajara marked the beginning of a relationship that, over more than four decades, built an impressive collection.
José Aguilar helped sustain the artist’s work and creative process through close and continuous support. The exhibition presents a selection of the collector’s favorite pieces. This journey unfolds as a conversation sustained over time, in which Kraeppellin’s work responds to attentive, critical, and constant listening. Each piece records that intellectual and emotional exchange that shaped their friendship: a dialogue that encouraged risk, persistence, and the expansion of his visual language.
The exhibition text is by curator Rubén Méndez and essayist and art critic Baudelio Lara, who propose a reading attentive to the evolution of the work and to the relationship that made it possible. The collection, marked by a significant presence of erotic and sculptural works, not only brings together pieces, but also traces the patron’s gaze: what he chose to accompany, sustain, and affirm within the creative universe of Juan Kraeppellin.
